Deb McCann

Deb McCann knew birth work was her passion when her roommate/best friend asked her to be at the birth of her first child in 2004.  Shortly after that birth she married her husband, became pregnant with her first son in 2005 and completed her family with her fourth boy, born at home, in 2014.  Deb has been teaching The Bradley Method classes since 2012 and trained in placenta encapsulation in 2016.  In 2012 Deb was also a surrogate for her niece Kya.  Unfortunately Kya was only with us on this earth for a short 45 minutes after birth.  Since then Deb has been the regional coordinator/volunteer with Sufficient Grace Ministeri’s where she offers support to families going through pregnancy and infant loss through photography and birth support.  Along with being a birth doula, bereavement doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, monitrice and birth educator, Deb is now a student midwife.  She will begin taking on a primary roll sometime in 2024 and hopefully sit the NARM exam to become a CPM by 2025.  When Deb isn’t doing birth work she enjoys spending time on their farm taking care of all of the goats, pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats.  She also loves to garden, can, go hunting, fishing, camping and watching her four boys ride their dirt bikes.  Along with showing in 4H, playing travel baseball, football and the family favorite, wrestling.  If you ever find her taking a vacation it is either on a cruise ship with her girlfriends, to the UP of Michigan with her family or in Kentucky traveling the bourbon trails collecting bottles along the way.  Deb knows what a sacred space she is coming in to when supporting our clients.  Her goal is to be your tour guide through this process, however you decide to birth, so everyone comes out on the other side empowered knowing they had the best birth experience they could have had.

Melody McCue

Melody McCue (pronouns she/her) is a married mama of three, and it was her experiences with her own births that led her to doula work. Although they were all vastly different from each other and had various challenges, she felt supported and empowered (by husband, midwife, and phone-doula support from The Ohio Doula’s very own Deb McCann!), and the experiences were all beautiful. Through sharing her beautiful experiences with friends, she came to realize that this is not always the case for everyone. She realized that knowledge, preparation, and a calm supportive presence made all the difference for her, so she wanted to be a part of that support for others. She started out in the birth world by volunteering; but got the final push into doula land in 2018 when her niece was born prematurely and passed away after a valiant NICU battle. She wanted to change the story for other families by walking with them through similar situations. Melody certified first as a Bereavement Doula through StillBirthday before taking the birth doula training and becoming certified through DONA. She is also DONA-trained for postpartum support (after much nannying, daycare infant care work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development & Education) She lives in Delaware Ohio with her husband Alex, kiddos Izzy, Eliana, and Ollie, 2 cats Molly and Ronald, and GSP pup Tonks.

Olivia N. Atley

Olivia is trained full spectrum doula (BADT, NBDA) with a breadth of knowledge to share regarding prenatal and postpartum care, as well as labor & delivery support. She intentionally layers this with her knowledge of yoga (asana, meditation, and pranayama), reiki, and holistic modalities to provide the most intentional and comprehensive support to birthing people and their families as possible.

Olivia is a local school teacher and yoga instructor that peacefully resides in Columbus, Ohio with her partner, son, and chihuahua.

Chaundra Davis

Chaundra Davis has been about all things birth and baby for 20+ years. She started as an Infant Care and Education Coordinator, where she set up and prepared infant programs from the bottom up, while training teachers how to implement them in preparation for accreditation. After taking time off to focus on raising her family, Chaundra entered the field of birth work, becoming a DONA certified Birth Doula in 2021. She also holds a BS in Human Ecology-Early Childhood and Infant Development, which she happily puts to use as a Postpartum Doula and Infant Care Specialist. While she is passionate about supporting families, Chaundra is as passionate about her alternate profession-singing. When she isn't supporting a family or relaxing at home, you can usually find her somewhere belting out a tune. Chaundra, resides in Pickerington with her husband Dana, the four out of their six children left in the nest, and two spoiled kitties, Sir Iverson and Princess Catarina.

Michelle Wilson

Michelle Wilson is a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Ohio, and Certified Lactation Counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. She also worked as a licensed massage therapist in her previous career. She is a mother of three in a blended family. Michelle nursed two of her children, and personally understands some of the hardships that accompany both exclusive breastfeeding and supplementation/combination feeding.

Effy rodriguez

Born and raised in a tight-knit community, Effy always had a natural inclination towards helping others. However, it was the birth of her first child that sparked her newfound calling. Her own childbirth experience, marked by both challenges and triumphs, ignited a profound desire to assist other women through this transformative period of their lives. Effy's journey as a doula is marked by a commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. She recognizes the unique needs and perspectives of each family she works with, ensuring a tailored and supportive experience for all. Diamond Christian

Diamond Christion is a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula serving the greater Columbus metropolitan area. I am also a mom of one amazing teen and a 7lb poodle named Lucy. On any given day you can find me crafting or spending time out in nature in my kayak or hiking in the hills.

My passion for childbirth evolved from my very own experience within the hospital industrial complex. My experiences led to discover the disparities within the birthing community and amplified my desire to impact birthing outcomes to ensure a positive birthing experience for all. My role as a birth doula is to provide physical and emotional support, information and advocacy during pregnancy and immediate postpartum.

It is an absolute honor to support women and their growing families during this amazing and intimate time. As well as to ensure a safe, memorable and empowering birthing experience.

Mackenzie moore

Mackenzie Moore (she/her/hers) is a dedicated birth doula whose journey into the world of birth and postpartum care was sparked by her firsthand experiences witnessing the importance of comprehensive support. Having interacted closely with pregnant individuals and cared for their newborns as families transitioned into parenthood, Mackenzie recognized the need for personalized and culturally sensitive assistance during this transformative time.

Motivated by a desire to better understand and address the unique challenges faced by black women in the context of the maternal health crisis, Mackenzie initiated conversations with coworkers, family members, and friends to gain insights into their birth experiences. These discussions provided her with a profound perspective on the specific support required, particularly within the black community.

What truly catalyzed Mackenzie's commitment to becoming a doula was a transformative moment when she came across a video featuring an all-black birthing team. Witnessing the team's genuine, attentive approach and active listening to their clients resonated deeply with Mackenzie, inspiring her to embark on her own path as a birth doula.

Mackenzie brings her passion for birthwork to the forefront, integrating her cultural and artistic perspective into her practice. Beyond her role as a birth doula, she finds joy in immersing herself in the world of art, cultivating a balanced and fulfilling life. Eager to expand her knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the field, Mackenzie is enthusiastic about continuing her journey of learning and providing essential support to birthing individuals and their families.
